Mike Atkinson
Mike is responsible for all the PADI Instructor Development Courses here at Sub Aqua Divers. What he doesn’t know about diving you could write on the back of a postage stamp.
Mike has been involved in the diving industry for over 15 years. With an eye for detail and safety Mike is quickly becoming one of the most respected Course Directors in the industry. Together with teaching and photography Mike’s own passion lies in wreck diving, enjoying all aspects from the exploration to the history & mystery surrounding every wreck he dives. Whether it’s the Staingarth in Stoney cove, the German fleet in Scapa Flow or an undived wreck out in the middle of the North Sea, he loves them all! Wreck diving led Mike down the technical diving route with qualifications in Advanced Trimix, Semi and Closed Circuit Rebreather Mike’s Outlook on diving boils down to one word “Mick’ology" In essence, if the situation is not 100% right, then you can always come back and dive another day...
Barbara Hately
When Barbara first started diving she intended to dive only on holiday and in warm water. Since then she has learnt never to say never and now dives in the British Isles throughout the year. There are even photos of her diving in a blizzard at Stoney Cove! Despite this, Barbara has still managed to visit a wide range of warmer locations including Tanzania, Sipadan, The Lembeh Straits, the Caribbean & Mexico and the Red Sea. She enjoys wrecks and reefs, pelagics and critters - basically she just enjoys being in the water either diving for herself or helping others to discover the fun of SCUBA diving.
Barbara is a PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer and an International Association of Handicapped Divers (IAHD) Instructor.
Amanda Lindsay
I am one of the team at Sub Aqua Divers in Wath upon Dearn. I learnt to dive 11 years ago in 1998, passing my open water course abroad before starting to dive in the UK. Upon returning home I still had the bug for diving and continued my training up to PADI Rescue Diver. Mick then encouraged me to sign onto the Dive Master course (exactly how long it will take me to finish is a different story). I do a lot of UK diving. Through the week and sometimes on a weekend you will find me somewhere in a quarry around the country or in the dive shop. I am a lively person and always willing to help out. When I am not working I am diving and having lots of fun.
